    Film Scores under appreciated?

I have a question, and I apologize if this topic has been brought up in the past. I was just wondering, do you think film scores are underrated or under appreciated by the general public? There are a lot of societies and websites out there dedicated to them so I was just wondering. Do you think its underrated over other music genres? Probably not, but I was just wanted an opinion from others.

Also, what part of a film score or the scoring process is under appeciated and do you think should be brought to people's attention?

I think the music scores are taken for granted ... surely, the music is able to set the 'tone' of a particular scene and subconsciously make us either cry or laugh.

I don't think the general public realizes everything that happens to make the music so successful. Having been on sound stages when the live recordings were made was a real eye-opener for me.

Some films scores have brought lots of fame and fortune to some prolific composers, such as John Williams ... but I don't think that the film score music outshines any other music genre, per se.
