https://www.magle.dk/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gifMany More I do Hope will come.!!!!!!!!!!. What do I say.
Listen to "Lullaby" First...this is a "very moving" prelude to
A Magnificant Performance of "With Wings" (Fantasie-Impromutu No. 11). The Bosendorfer Sound & The Brilliant playing/technique/interpretation/style/versatility/positivity etc.and listen carefully,to Frederik's ability to connect the perception of different senses (to experience, for example, taste as shape, colour as sound,or sound as colour)This is using the elements of colour in the basic music framework....there are many other things I could add to this and "Lullaby"... but it is,yet another glimpse, of the inspirational & emotional involvement & dedication, within his music etc..... of just what "Frederik Magle" is all about. tak tak pamadu/Paul. https://www.magle.dk/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I truly did Enjoy and I am sure everyone else will feel as I do.....Lost for all the Words. https://www.magle.dk/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Frederik, I'll comment on those two beautiful pieces in danish at another time, ( can't really express my thoughts in english in this matter, sorry!) but all I can say for now is, that I wished I was sitting in a big concert hall, and experienced you playing "With Wings" and "Lullaby" live - ! https://www.magle.dk/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Hope my wish will come true some day....
Never stop, what you're doing with music!!!

These are two absolutely beautiful pieces! And being a pianist myself (but not nearly as good as you) I stand in awe...I truly am inspired and touched. I'm simply lost for words! Keep up the great work!

Thanks Cristy, I'm very glad that you like the pieces! Makes me happy to get such feedback https://www.magle.dk/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And also thanks (better late than... https://www.magle.dk/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif) to both Trebbien and Pamadu! Trebbien, since both pieces are free improvisations that I composed while playing, they can never be redone 100% - they are but a blink with an eye and would have been gone forever if they had not been recorded. But I'm sure you will get the chance to hear me play live someday anyway https://www.magle.dk/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Anytime Frederik. But I I'm sure you feel much pride in the fact that they are your pieces.

I've never been a fan of piano-music per-se...

But both these pieces can change my mind...

Wow!

Any chance you'll arrange them for full orchestra?

Frederik Magle
Oct-17-2005, 22:09
Thanks! I'm very happy you like it, not least since you're not normally a fan of piano music!

The chance of them being arranged for full orchestra is rather slim at the moment. It would take a lot of time (that I don't have), but I am working on other orchestral works. And I can tell you - and this is the first time I mention this in public (only a couple of people are aware of this plan until now!) - that I plan on composing a concerto for piano and symphony orchestra sometime within the next 1-3 years.

Three Years?? https://www.magle.dk/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif You aught to take a lesson from Schubert! He paid for meals by writing notes on napkins! https://www.magle.dk/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif https://www.magle.dk/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Haha https://www.magle.dk/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Composing a large scale symphonic work takes time. Composing a large (35-45 minutes) piano concerto could take anywhere between 5-6 months (full time work 8-12 hours a day) and several years. Anyhow, since the work is not a commission, I'm setting a larger time frame, in the event that I may need to work on other projects before composing the concerto - in order to "pay for the meals" https://www.magle.dk/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Frederik....

Has any of your music been used in movies?? Because some of your music sounds like it should be for sure..

I agree on that though. And I want to tell you, my favorite pieces from you Frederik are Pheonix and Souffle le vent (even if I only heard excerpts..) Oh, about that, would it be possible to hear the full movement like stated in the related thread?

All I can say is 'Oh my good God, why haven't I heard of you before?' You are one talented person Frederik. When I listened to 'With Wings' to me it sempt as if the music flowed from you, just naturally. I only wish to compose like that in the future.

All the best with up-coming compositions!

That is Very interesting about the time process involved in composing, Frederik. Thanks for sharing that. I hope you will concentrate on your own compositions and commissions, and not get into film music just yet, because films must force (I imagine) the composer to bring music forward that perhaps their Muse is not in the mood to do or is ready to express just yet. I love what's in your head!

Thanks for the nice comments khatermohd and Judy! :)

Susangio, thanks for your concern about film music. I will certainly be steeping very slowly carefully when entering that field and leave my "own" music behind. I promise :)

Hi Judy,

I apologize that I can be hard to catch at times. Part of it is probably due to the different time zones, but also from time to time when absorbed in composing (especially when stuck in a major work ;)) I may not be online for a while, but please don't be discouraged.

All the best,
Frederik

I only wish I was Swaft right now. I found your work Mr. Magle moving. That is not something that I say very often, about Music or Painting. Your on to something here with this "improv" piece. I've listened to it now 14 times and it still has this hidden effect that I just can't pinpoint where it's coming from, which sort of adds to my delight. Thank you for this work, I may even listen another 14 times tonight before I move onto something else.
