TER’AZUR consists of Ian Alexander Griffiths (guitar, lead vocals), Marcel Kohn (keyboards, vocals), Christopher Streidt (bass, vocals), Stephan Schope (drums, vocals). This German four-piece can create a rich sound with references to Alias Eye, Sylvan, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree and Pain Of Salvation… :)

Their first CD ‘Falling Asleep’ (2011) encompasses new art-rock and sophisticated pop, modern alternative and progressive metal, mainstream and atmospheric moods. I’m just struck by the production and accomplished musicianship. Ter’Azur is a group that knows their own stuff. The 13 compositions ranging in length from over 2:30 to a mini-epic track under 10:40, are strong on melody. Sometimes very dreamy, then suddenly toughened up with heavy riffs and skin bashing department. In spite of complexity, all compositions tend to build in character rather than resorting to technical gymnastics. Lead singer has a warm voice with versatility to can quickly change from a lower to high pitch and vice versa. Classy piano and keyboard parts contribute undeniably to the band’s signature. Quite polished drumming is remarkable and the bass lines are solid as well. These German guys easily make up for that in skilled arranging…

To sum. If you're a fan of the aforementioned bands, this might be your next cup of proverbial tea.

Having touched upon the music, it’s worth giving a mention with regard to good accompanying CD booklet with the lyrics to all songs, some beautiful photos and artwork.
