I dont have a top 10 off the top of my head, but LOTR is up there.
As is Kingdom of Heaven.

Basically I love those medieval type movie soundtracks.

WHAT a poor soundtrack. i watched the movie and i thought the music ruined it. it was one of those soundtracks that spoil the the movie to a degree. the high musical arrangements tone and tempo did not suit the movie at all.

on the other hand the village is one of the best i ever heard. i'm sure u'll agree with me if u heard the music to it.

Hi Kaizekkk:tiphat: I am sorry that you think the Patriot has a poor sound track I peronally did like it and it would be a sad world if everyone liked the same things, I thought that the soft family scenes in the beginning needed the slow soft southern style music and that the family trauma when the young son was killed needed the high drama that the music portrayed as for the scenes running through the forest and under growth when the other two young son's help their father to wreck some revenge against there oppressors I think, that together with the visuals there is nothing wanting in the film score but as I said before each to there own, I liked it and thought the whole thing was very entertaining and thought provoking then again perhaps we were watching a different film? or the maybe the same film from a different aspect. good luck and good health. cheers Sparky

Did everyone forget about The Last of the Mohicans? If you ask me, it is a timeless classic at this point, and one of the best soundtracks.
It is, IMO, incredibly hard to make a top ten since there are so many awesome soundtracks.
But the top Fourteen for me in no particular order is:

Lord of The Rings Trilogy
Gladiator
The Last of The Mohicans
King Arthur
Rain Man (The Hans Zimmer bits)
Michael Kamen - Highlander theme
Band of Brothers
Last Samurai
StarWars
Pirates of The Caribbean
Escaflowne
Spirited Away
Princess Mononoke
Don Davis - The Matrix

Hi Frederik :tiphat: I must agree I did forget the Last of the Mohicans and as you say it is one of the best sound tracks at the moment  although I still cannot understand why no one seems to rate the patriot is it because our cousins on the other side of the pond got the better of the pompous hierachy of the day I wonder ? still as far as I am concerned most film scores are there to enhance the story so if the film is voted as outstanding then the film score will have had a very big hand in the success of the film so it is as you say incredibly hard to make a top ten so lets all just enjoy what we like & continue to love Music  www.timpitman.com (http://www.timpitman.com) now this is music

I agree with your choices here:
A Beautiful Mind,
The Mission,
The Last of The Mohicans,
Gladiator,
Braveheart.

Not too crazy about other positions. But regardless of actual choices, if your list doesn't have at least a handful of Zimmer scores on it - you're not listening...

As far as Patriot score - it just didn't do it for me - though I do have it on my hard-drive somewhere. It just wasn't very memorable/touching to me. The exception is one particular piece from the actual Patriot movie trailer. It's titled The Escape (by Craig Armstrong), and was actually taken from a soundtrack to another movie:
