Please, help me indentify the instrument

The two "instruments" are played on an electronic synthesizer. They resemble a violin and viola, but are certainly now actual acoustic bowed instruments in the recording.

It's only going to sound digital for me,
hearing it through these Dell computer speakers, not even with a powered bass.
But... I can add,
this sounds like Sting when he was doing "Fortress of my Heart" and "Fields of Gold".
I had the VHS recording of him doing that live in his studio,
but I traded that when my last VHS player finally stopped working,
or else I'd be able to tell you the keyboard players name, a very famous one,
and list the equipment he used.
In rock circles, this home recording video of Sting and his band players
was famous for the moment when you could see his upright bass, leaning behind him,
falling over, making sounds that were also captured during the recording.
Okay, I said home recording when I should have said estate recording.
I can't remember the keyboardists' name, just thinking he was from Detroit.

And for tech users who lament about VHS cassettes and players,
don't worry.
The only real reason I kept one going, until the end, was to watch "Water World".
Once I got that on DVD...
