• Welcome to the Pipe Organ Forum! This is a part of the open community Magle International Music Forums focused on pipe organs (also known as "church organs"), organists, organ music and related topics.

This forum is intended to be a friendly place where technically advanced organists and beginners (or even non-organists) can feel comfortable having discussions and asking questions. We learn by reading and asking questions, and it is hoped that the beginners (or non-organists) will feel free to ask even the simplest questions, and that the more advanced organists will patiently answer these questions. On the other hand, we encourage complex, technical discussions of technique, music, organ-building, etc. The opinions and observations of a diverse group of people from around the world should prove to be interesting and stimulating to all of us.

As pipe organ discussions can sometimes become lively, it should be pointed out that this is an open forum. Statements made here are the opinion of the poster, and not necessarily that of the forum itself, its administrator, or its moderators.

In order to post a new topic - or reply to existing ones - you may join and become a member by clicking on Register New User. It's completely free and only requires a working email address (in order to confirm your registration - it will never be given away!). We strive to make this a friendly and informative forum for anyone interested in pipe organs and organ music.

(Note: If you wish to link to and promote your own website please read this thread first.)

    Many kind regards

ok...nobody has replied yet....
Just give it some time. The forum subject (pipe organ) does not attract so many people like other forums, where active members are counted by hundreds or thousands. We should even be thankful that this place exists.

I don't know, perhaps there are but don't expect the numbers and activity seen in other forums. OK, I see. There is a link to the member list. 746 members as of now. But from the replies I see in the threads, only a few post regularly.

I'ts a worry that people don't pay much attention to this forum...

Well, we are here because we love this instrument and the music written for it, but don't expect everyone to share the same feelings. There are people who would tell you that organ music is repulsive. If not something worse.

(How many organists are in this forum?)
I doubt that even the admins could tell.

I'm also fairly new here, maybe I can help. I grew up not hearing a good pipe organ on a regular schedule (our church had a little electronic one), and I had never heard a really good organist until earlier this spring. However, the mixture of a really good organist plus a very good pipe organ changed everything for me! I think relative cost of these instruments compared to the cost of getting a CD really hurts the number of people who like to listen to the organ (IMO there is the greatest discrepancy between live and recorded organ music).

As far as I can tell from my limited experience here though, you've found the greatest pipe organ forum on the internet !

I would think that with most forums, one cannot, or should not expect a response right away. Forums are not chat rooms. _music_4_ever_, you only waited 15 mins. before getting a response. That`s really not very long. As you see, now others are now starting to respond as well...

I agree with ParryHotter.

Hi Music, and welcome to our forum! Yes, you may get slow responses sometimes. . .I think during the summer a lot of people are away or busy with extra activities--I know I am, so I don't always get on every day. Be patient, and with every bit of activity, the forum will grow.

The really nice thing about this forum is that in time you will get to know organists from all over the world.

Hope you enjoy it, and feel free to ask questions or make observations. There is an awful lot to discuss when it comes to pipe organs.
