Historical recordings as MP3?

I just happend to find a download of
the first ever New Years Concert of 1941!
Surprised by the quality I made some test
with other recordings I have on CD!
The AAC codec actually reduces the noise-level
without reducing the Quality too much!
What do you think - and how do you feel - about
classical music as MP3?

I personally prefer FLAC and APE to mp3, even though their compression is less powerful, you gain a lot in the audio quality field.

Kuhlau - I just love your avatar. What an extremely distinguished and characteristic chap you are ... thanks for the MP3 links, by the way. Wonderful!!

Why, thank you.

Seeing as this forum is based in Denmark, I figured having a nationalised Danish composer (Kuhlau was, of course, originally German), is entirely appropriate. :)

I'm afraid my avatar's a bit of a nob, or rather, an old ivory stop ...
