That was quite interesting - I've never seen or heard this done by a flautist before. I'll have to pass it on to my flautist friends

Yeah, he's quite something.
He's also made an Inspector Gadget/Axel F medley and The Supermario Theme in his beatbox version...

Wow, I watched his other vids on youtube ... equally impressive. Beatbox, is this a relatively new term? What are its originations?

This is the first I've heard of it, but then my musical life has been rather sheltered before joining this forum

Well... I'm not an expert on the hip-hop culture, but to my knowledge it's been a part of this culture beginning in the 80ies.
As to artists, Bobby McFerrin is one of the names comming to mind, though not in the hip-hop style being jazz-vocalist himself. :)

Again wikipedia comes to our rescue:

hi corno:
well its so fantastic
to understand the instrument and to obtain such kind of dialoge with her
she is now not an instrument she is a girl that can join your soul
i appreciate such kind of dialoge and understanding you have introduced to us
however i have to be honest with you, maybe the player introduced his music little pit early
in my opinion it still need more trials to make it that kind of fancy music "this is in my opinion" noting that i am so new to judge on it and to understand others productions
but i have to share my opinion in order to increase my knowledge and be areal member
best regards
hamlet

Thomas ... Interesting article on wikipedia. Thanks for sharing.

Do you know of other woodwind instruments where beatboxing has been accomplished? I would tend to think that it would be difficult, if not almost impossible on brass ... or is this possible on the horn?

Hi Lars.

I have no knowledge of this kind of performance on other wind instruments.
It would, though, be interesting to see this done. :)

Interesting. I was expecting him to put down his flute to beatbox! Didn't know you could play the flute and beatbox at the same time. Really dug his version of the Sesame Street Theme. Wish he'd upload even more videos on YouTube though. Also wish he'd post a vid with his rapper singer friend, too.

Thats interesting. I'm a violinist turned producer and I did a remake of Peter and the Wolf. I wish I would've been able to get this guy to replay the flute part! haha Here in Texas, many schools went to the symphony to educate kids about orchestra. We thought this would be a good way to put a new twist on an old children's tale.

Let me know what you think
