Many organists feel the need to improvise but do not dare or can not do it spontaneously. This training course objective is to initiate these organists to the Art of the Improvisation in various styles, with a simple and pedagogic progressive method.
FIRST THREE DAY SESSION : Wednesday 21, Thursday 22, Friday July 23, 2004
SECOND THREE DAY SESSION : Wednesday 4, Thursday 5, Friday August 6, 2004
On the great organ Schwenkedel (III/34) of Saint-Paul de Pessicart Church (City of NICE - 06 - Alpes-Maritimes - FRANCE - Europe)
13 hours 30 of collective courses by group, organized as follows : Each group includes to the maximum 6 trainees. 4 hours 30 of course per day and group, during three days.
TWO GROUPS PER DAY, one in the morning, one in the afternoon :
MORNING, training course for the organists not knowing how to improvise : One hour and half theoretical course, examples, demonstrations; 6 half-hours of individual courses (each pupil = half an hour) attended by all the trainees, for the total of 4 hours 30.
AFTERNOON, training course for the advanced organists already able to improvise : 45 minutes dedicated to ech trainee (x 6 = total 4 hours 30).
The training course is opened to two organist’s categories :
# Organists unable to improvise and with a very little or no harmony knowledge at all.
# Organists able to improvise and wish to progress.
In both cases the trainees must know to read the music and to play at sight from the score.
The beginner organists who have difficulties in musical theory cannot join this training course, unless they demonstrate a true ability for the improvisation.
The training course moreover is opened to the listeners (non-registered students), 6 maximum. They can passively attend the courses (no active participation is possible !)
The Masterclass : 100 euros (USD 120) for three days (one session)
Listener : 40 euros (USD 48) for three days (one session)
The maximum number is limited to 6 trainees and 6 listeners by group. Maximum 14 people on the gallery : 6 pupils, 6 listeners, the professor and one assistant. The rates do not include hotel expenses, but we have addresses at very competitive prices and will be only happy to help you to find the right place !
