Introducing myself

Hi, I'm new here. I'm enjoying the forum so far - it's refreshing to hear the comments of genuine music-lovers round the world.

I'm based in Cork city, Ireland - a happening place for independent contemporary music at the moment. There's loads of musical talent here - always inspiring, often awe-inspiring!

I am a singer, songwriter, guitarist & ( very basic ) violinist. I'm also very interested in recording & production.

It's really difficult to describe my music - I am a self-taught guitarist, which has resulted in a peculiar guitar style that most good guitarists can't imitate!

For some bizarre reason ( I used to feel embarrassed about it ) I have only ever written songs in 6/8 time. I have loads of them now - all with a different "feel" to them.

Many of the songs were written when I lived on a boat, with no electricity - hence I spent at least a couple of years without listening to anyone else's music.

I do listen to a lot of music nowadays - too many different styles/artists to mention.

hi
my name is Ger
I,m based in Almeria - South Spain.
In the south of Spain are only a few organs.
They are not in use while there are nearly no organ-players
Every year i go to Holland for holidays.
On one of my holidays i went to a concert of the fabulous organ player Martin Mans
it was so fantastic that i made the plan to restart playing organ.
now i.m using most of the time de GO program
it sounds great and gives a lot of pleasure.

I think I know what happened to our original Irish poster.
Instead of living on a boat with no electricity, not hearing other people's music so he can create his own style,
he's now living under the Blarney Stone, listening to everyone else's blarney so he can write original lyrics.
Maybe there's no Blarney, after acid rain erosion, just the stone.
I'm hearing murmurings and rumours of wars everywhere around me, lately,
but I'm ascribing that to a sticky seaweed problem I've been having, again.
Yeah, I've been sticking my spokes where bikes aren't meant to go.

As far as JHC's RIP: And by the faith and begorrah, even wit'yer shinin'menorrah, if you feel stuck in south Florida, get out right now.
Jesus just left Chicago, and they don't think he's coming back.

Didn't I look at Cat and see an Irish guy putting out his own c.d.'s?
When I think of the name "Cat", I think of tattoo people who get surgical work to look more animalistic.
JHC! Your comment to me also felt surgical.

This reference to being shy has me drawing a blank, myself.
Almost.
Something tells me you're still showing just the top of your iceberg.
As my Inuit friends say, it's the blowing whale that gets the harpoon.
I'm stuck with that.
