I was recently in Philadelphia US, and went to one of the shopping malls there that apparantly houses the worlds largest organ (or so the US say... not sure if this is indeed true).

But... what a wonderful sound I heard in a magnificent auditorium like setting. The mall was 8 stories high with a massive oopen space in the middle rising from the floor to the roof. I will try to look in my notes to see who gave the 30 minute recital, whoever it was, they were wonderful.

I have some photo's somewhere that I will dig up and post here for you to enjoy.

Ah... the wonderful "Wanamaker Organ". Yes it is indeed a magnificent instrument. I have never had the pleasure of playing it/listening to it live (yet) but I have several CD's recorded on it.

Many great organists and composers has found inspiration playing on it. Marcel Dupré (famous french organist/composer) improvised his great symphonie passion on this instrument and later wrote it down.

here's a link to the official site of the Friends of the Wanamaker Organ (http://www.wanamakerorgan.com/)

theMusicMan, please tell us more about your experience with this organ and do post the photos if you find them, thanks https://www.magle.dk/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
