I don't know just what the affiliation of the Red Hat Society is, but there is a group of them in our Elks Lodge (Santa Maria, CA #1538). They seem to meet every so often for luncheons, etc. Their secretary is called "Duchess do-write".

Red I know stands for passion but purple stands for creativity and royalty.
I've been with older ladies before. They love to chit chatter your ears
off and you enjoy listening when you are young and haven't been there
yet.

In Britain red is a royal colour.

Purple is also a royal color. I've seen pictures of Queen Elizabeth in
purple from years ago.
