Hello everyone!

I have a question!

I am a piano teacher and have taught all ages and all skill levels, but lately I have had some adult students from other parts of the world other than the US.

I do know that in Mexico, people seem to be taught the names of the piano notes do, re, mi etc.

I am looking for a site that tells me how people in throughout the world are taught the names of the notes. France? Italy? Cambodia???????

Can anyone out there help me

Thank you

Marion

Hello there Marion,

Nice you've joined us !

In answer to your question -

In print are various reference works on music terms/languages that might help including as follows -

1.
Dictionary of Musical Terms, Phrases and Abbreviations Originating from Italian, French, German, English and Other Languages‘. Portsmouth: Bardon, 1997. 349 p.

(An example of a quick-reference multi-lingual dictionary devoted to musical terminology).

2. 'Terminorum Musicae Index Septem Linguis Redactus - Polyglot Dictionary of Musical Terms: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Hungarian, Russian'. Budapest : Akademiai Kiado, 1978. 798 p.

Online is a little less systematic but you might try sites such as -
