A recent structure of great beauty...

My eyes popped out of my head when I saw this:

Its the Abbey Church of Saint Igor of Chernigovo just outside Moscow City in the suburb of Peredelkino, which for the literary minded is where the dacha of Boris Pasternak is located. Peredelkino is also the site of the Summer residence of Patriarch Kirill of the Moscow Patriarchate.

The Church was just finished and sanctified in June of this year...

Truly beautiful CD. It somehow reminds me of some of Gaudi's work.

Interesting that you think of Gaudi - Take a look at another most famous Cathedral at the Red Square and you'll see some similarities:

Do you believe there was any influence on these works CD either by the Russian architects or vice versa?

Good question Teddles...I have not read anything about the architect's inspiration for the Church in Peredelkino but it stands to reason that Saint Basil's Cathedral at the Red Square was a point of inspiration. Did you know that Saint Basil's has nine small churches that make up the main corpus of Saint Basil's?
