Organ Matters

Hi!
A few years ago I decided that within our monthly concerts I should put the King of Instruments onto the concert platform with a repertoire which our 10 rank pipe organ could not demonstrate. So I acquired the temporary instrument that served Londonderry Cathedral for a dozen years . . . It was said there to be "remarkably effective" but as a concert instrument I wanted to present something better so two more manuals came along . . . and what was the last thing holding it back? Good speakers . . .
And this is the case with so many electronic substitutes for the real thing. Let down by speakers they sound like organ recordings through a hi-fi system.
On Saturday at 2pm there is a meeting of the Electronic Organ Constructors' Society and we will be trying a couple of Hauptwerk installations through different types of speakers. The speakers I use tend to convey a performance rather than merely reproduce a performance, so the result on Hauptwerk should be interesting. If you would like to come, please let Don Bray, the regional secretary, know:
- contact details on http://www.eocs.org.uk/cntctus.html
There will also be an opportunity to try my concert beast, if anyone likes - links to videos are on

Best wishes
