Hi all! Roger here, otherwise known as mathetes1963. Been on this forum for a bit but haven't gotten around to formally introducing myself. So by way of introduction, let me begin by stating that my musical tastes are wide-spread and eclectic:
Classical
Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionist, Contemporary, sacred choral music (masses, motets, requiems), etc. I find something in every stylistic period I like, EXCEPT Opera. Especially fond of keyboard music (piano, organ, etc).
Film Music
John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, Miklos Rosza, Max Steiner, Ennio Morricone, Basil Poledouris, Hans Zimmer, Akira Ifukube, Howard Shore, John Barry, and others too numerous to mention...
Instrumental Electronica
Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Tomita, Tangerine Dream, Larry Fast/SYNERGY, Patrick O'Hearn, Yanni (Keys To Imagination, anyway), Kitaro (Silk Road series; the rest sounds like more of the same), Enya, etc.
Messianic/Contemporary Christian
Marty Goetz, Paul Wilbur, Rich Mullins, Iona, Barry & Batya Segal, Eden's Bridge, Robin Mark, David Taylor (our congregation's worship leader)
Other Genres
Jazz/Big Band, Wind Band Music, Ethnic/World music, Bluegrass (but NOT Country!), and just about any kind of live music done well...
Duke Ellington is reputed to have said, "There's only two kinds of music: good and bad; if it sounds good, it is good." A few caveats aside, I tend to agree with Mr. Ellington.
Peace out!
