"Love in Late Autumn" is a classic song by Hong Kong singer Alan Tam, released in 1984. Upon its release, it became an instant hit across Hong Kong and the entire Chinese-speaking community. Due to its high popularity and widespread singing among young fans, it was regarded as the "school song" of "Principal Tam."
The song swept multiple major music awards that year, including the TVB Gold Song Gold Award and the RTHK Top Ten Chinese Gold Songs Award.
"Love in Late Autumn" was adapted from the Korean song "친구여" (Friend Oh) by South Korean singer Cho Yong-pil, composed by Lee Ho-joon. A Japanese version, titled "友よ" (Friend Yo), was written and performed by Shinji Tanimura. Cho Yong-pil, Shinji Tanimura, and Alan Tam once performed together, singing all three versions consecutively on stage."
