Hi all,

I was just wondering... I'm sitting here listening to the lastest cd-publication (NHØP - Friends Forever) with NHØP (Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen - Danish acoustic stringbass player - mainly in the jazz-scene) who died earlier this year only in his 50'ies.
How many of our "friends" here abroad have heard of NHØP and what do you think of him?

Corno - sorry this took so long to reply.
Some time ago I posted a note about Michala Petri (recorder) and when I played her CD at that time I was astonished by the bass parts played on some of the tracks. Turns out it was Mr. Pedersen.
He was absolutely phenomenal. I have never heard anyone play string bass like that. Can you recommend other CDs that feature him?
I did play bass guitar for few years so I appreciate his talent much. It's a shame he is gone.

NHOP was a good friend of mine and his death (as many deaths recently) made me really sad - he was definitely one of the greatest European bass players.

Getting old is terrible.....
