Rating The Jazz Piece Above Me

No Mat, That's not too bad in its own right. Check this out from E.S.T. for something both funky and spunky, especially the technique near the end of the piece by the drummer, and the marvelous way in which he utilizes an empty tambourine, using one hand, no less. As there are 3 or 4 versions of this on YouTube, I just hope I nailed the right one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-xQWqqTKEo&feature=player_detailpage. Let me know what you think, and I'll send some more your way if you'd like. p.s. Try to play it as loud as you can!

Peace Out,
Steve

Hey, Steve. I've just listened to the clip. And honestly, when I heard first notes I knew I wouldn't like it. But, I listened to the rest of the piece anyway and it turns out I was wrong. It was surprisingly good. 9/10 good, I'd say. So, if you've got more of the kind - I'm up for it.

Now, this is only an excerpt of a track. I couldn't seem to find the whole thing (to listen for free). So, if any of you guys know where to look...

Blue Velvet is a lovely piece which I would rate at 9/10.
I found it on Spotify, (full term and free), and unfortunately the last I heard this is unavailable to you.
It comes from an 8 track CD named "Willis Jackson with Pat Martino" and lasts for 8m 12s.

@ Steve, Thanks, I will.

@ Teddy, I'm not usually too fond of ballads but this one simply won me over. Especially the piano, though the sax was just as good.

@ John, That's true. I've just checked again. It's available only in eight countries; mine's not one of them.

@ Everyone, I've been wanting post this for a long time. It's a Corea/McFerrin duo. I'm curious about your opinions.

@ Mat, I love Chick Corea playing just about anything. However, this piece featuring McFerrin and his scat singing--I guess--didn't really do that much for me, as I'm not really that into jazz vocals to begin with. I know he was trying to capture the spirit of the music with the "scatting" and maybe it's not considered a vocal per se, but I felt it went a tad too long anyway. I'd give it a 7/10, only because I love Chick's playing so much. Here's another great pianist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlmUNXuGZ7Y&feature=player_detailpage

Never heard of him, John. I've listened to both Excursion and the clip you posted on another thread. Both very enjoyable. I'd say 8.5/10.
