Steve,

I'd like to give it a 10 as it's an all time classic, but I can't. Flanagan's solo on this track is just not, well... I think we already discussed it in another occasion. So, I rate it a 9/10.

Here's a track by Jamie:

So Steve - nothing to rate so I'll go back to Jamie.
His piano is excellent (9) - but his voice has never been for me (6)

I think the following track is so typical of a jazz club sound. I chose it because I like George Masso on Tbn
but Ron Odrich (who I've never heard of before) isnt bad on Clarinet.

@ OD, why don't you rate the piece put up by Mat in his post, which occured right before mine?

But I did Steve.
Check again that I gave 9 for piano and 6 for voice.
I'm still waiting for someone to rate mine of 23rd

John, I liked the overall flow of the piece and the way the musicians seemed to enjoy and play off each other. The work has a nice flow to it, and I love the trombone and bass part. So, although I'm not a big fan of either the clarinet or guitar in jazz, I'd give this an 8/10, as I thoguht I detected some Brubeck inflections to it as well. Speaking of which--and with the New York theme/motif in mind--I offer this short masterpiece from the master: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nZxWo1nEEM&feature=player_detailpage

Hi, Gord, That MJQ piece with Desmond is simply stunning! What can I give it but a 10/10! The already crystal clear MJQ sound is augmented by Desond's other-wordly sounding sax intonations, with Bags barely --though beautifully, restrained--xylophone just chomping at the bit to get loose. What genius; thanks for posting this, as I had quite forgotten how much I adore the MJQ!
Here's another genius on sax, who, along with his good buddy, McCoy Tyner, manage to re-work an old "chestnut" into something even more magical: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rtr4XQGcSDY&feature=player_detailpage

Sorry about that John. Give me a minute and I'll rate your piece and submit one of my own.
Yeah Steve I'm sorry as well because we got out of sync for a while, and without meaning to, i appeared to be harassing you.
I picked that up from my wife who harasses me all the time, and I'm sure I deserve it (In case she reads this).

Now then, back to business,

Alot of my favourite artists were finding each other about the time you are talking about.
Here are 2 of them

@ OldDude, No problem; I know what you mean about the fraus, they really can get under our skins sometimes; I guess it's all part of the "joys of marriage", eh? :banghead:

John, that's gotta be a 10/10 for the Baker/Pepper track. Nothing to complain about. Nothing at all.

Who'd think I'de be posting an E.S.T. track. It's one of my favorite ones. Please someone rate this:

(Steve, you might wanna skip this one. Sorry mate, but remembering that you're a big fan of them, I just know you'd give them a 10/10 in the blink of an eye!)
