    New to organ music

    Hi everyone,

I recently bought an electronic organ. The problem is that I never learned to play organ or piano. I would love to learn it. Any tips on how to get started? I do play the guitar and I know a few chords on the piano. So I know a little bit about music.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Gerjan,

Get thyself a teacher or tutor ... that is, if your are serious about really learning the instrument ... also there are a couple 'method' books (Stainer and Gleason) that are quite helpful, too.

What kind of electronic organ did you buy (brand, manuals, pedalboard, etc)?

Also are you interested in Classic style or pop style playing. There are 2 different methods of learning basically speaking. One based on note learning with classical methods...the other is the pointer system which is chord structure with melodic line and improvisation. I agree with Lars on the methods he lists which is the classical approach. there is a series of books for the pointer system since you play guitar this method may make more sense to you.. alot depends on what style of music you plan on playing too. Good Luck

I agree totally with Bill, he's the teacher after all

Gerjan, tell us more about the el.organ you got.
Is it new or a second hand good oldie. One man or a combo 2m/ped?
If you plan to play pop style, most of them are ok as are.
But if you plan to play classical, do you consider get yourself into VPO universe?

    Welcome and have fun
