stu,
The track by Betty Roche (this got me really scratching my head because I'd never heard of her)
knocked me over and sent me scurrying to find more of her work.
Amazingly I can find very little (even on Spotify).
Can you point me anywhere else?
John, she was with Duke Ellington for a spell then she recorded very seldom after that. There were only two that I know of, on the OJC and Bethlehem labels. I feel that the 'A Train' track was her finest vocal. The Bethlehem label stuff featured her with Eddie Costa vibes and Conti Candoli.
It's that steam theme again!!!! Teddy's request this time. Dorothy Dandridge vocal, with the greatest jazz dancers that ever hit the screen the Nicholas Brothers, and, Glenn Miller's band. 'Chattanooga Choo Choo'....won't you choo choo me home.....
Sue Raney. Good one Gord. I have always intended to listen more to her but now I must do so. She, I think, is guitarist Jimmy Raney's daughter.
You have prompted me to do so and this has brought to mind another, pianist Jimmy Rowles daughter, Stacy Rowles.
