FL Studio, and the final stand

It must be two albums ago since I posted anything here, so I thought I might post a few pieces now..

First off, I used to work solely in an app called FL Studio, but has now switched to using Cakewalk's Sonar rewired with Propellerhead's Reason instead. I wrote a final piece in FL Studio as a goodbye piece, but sadly lost the workfile before I could finish it. Here's the 2½ minute that remained:

Ok, I couldn't leave good old FL Studio alone, this next piece has some percussion rewired from Reason in order to shuffle/swing, tho. It's also sort of an experiment with NI Battery VST.

Yea yea =) ..this final piece is made in FL Studio as well, but then mastered in Sonar through Rewire, I'm not satisfied with the sound quality tho, FL's mixer is still evident in the piece, so this was the final stand and test for the survival of FL Studio on my PC. The beat is Reason, this is evident by the bassdrum curve.

That was the last of me and FL Studio, and also that dreadfull headphones sound. You see I have produced all of the above on headphones, so the bass will not be as I intended it if you listen to it on speakers. I will however, get some studio monitor speakers next week (if Aage musik keep their promise), and then these headphones gotta go, and you will hopefully experience an entirely diff. sound/mix quality from me in the future, also because I have switched to Sonar.

I didn't know about him or the demogroup before now, no. I don't play games much these days, so.. But people often say that my music would be suitable for games - you may be on to something there ..Let it be known that I was part of a demogroup for many years myself as a kid, and grew up with this kind of electronica, so I'm pretty sure that I choose my structures and sounds from that base, at least subconsiously.

I found that Skaven has some of his music available from his website, featuring Bejeweled 2 theme, and furthermore, I found that we use the same software (FL Studio), so that might explain a clear similarity in our sound there - I have just abandoned FL Studio though, that's what this thread is about =)

In the state of Kentucky where I'm from not too much technical music
like yours is played. I love it! Like I said I also listen to the music of
skaven when I play the game Bejeweled and Bookworm. Here I play
as close I can get with that kind of music by playing a pipe organ. I don't
always play the pipe organ classicaly. You can catch me play something
that has a good beat to it. Once I looked up at the pipes and said, "Now
we are rocking out!".

Been terribly busy lately, as I have many sideprojects, I also make classical, fusion and old school hip hop (yikes!) + I have written for a few movies and commercials.. I'm not too familiar with Kentucky really, but I'm most pleased that you liked the music =D

I just got a pair of studio speakers, so I will post more in the near future once I have remastered my old tracks. Keep on rockin' them pipes Judy, hehe.. Maybe we can collaborate on a piece one day, and groooooove out =)

I hope you like going to a methoist church here in Madisonville, Kentucky.
It is located at the east of downtown on center street. You can't miss
this gigantic church. It's almost the size of a cathedral with a greek style
structure in red brick. It's a beautiful church. Do you go to church any
where? I would like to know. I still think it sounds great. I still listen to
Goodbye when I am on this forum websight. I'm very limited on things at
home to make my life easier so I go the public library to use the internet
and get this forum. The reason why I have such a limit at home is that
I'm on a fixed income right now. All the instruments I play I have to go
to my church and play one including the pipe organ. Believe me I pinch
myself when I'm playing the big guy. I've only been playing this organ
since July of this year. So I'm still kinda new at it. It's a good thing
that I have played the piano most of my life or I would be lost on the
big instrument. Right now the church's organ is like an old friend. I hate
to get off of it when I start to play it. Well enough for now!

Goodbye ... It's a real shame that part of this piece got lost in the shuffle of computer programs - really liked the theme (melody line) you set in that one. It was easy to listen to and follow, although the accompaniment sometimes drowned it out, but it was still distinguishable for the most part.

Sinister Plan ... Wonderful driving theme - liked how you began with this and added the rest of the accompaniment instruments to this. Nice balance between all the voices. The music here is very true to its title and sounds quite 'sinister' to me. Especially liked the closing.

Zeta ... Very unusual beginning - thought I was going to be wisked away to Bavaria. A fresh approach to yet another thematic piece of yours. The variations on the original theme are quite enjoyable. Is Zeta going to be expanded, or does it end there for the time being?

All were great listening - I always enjoy listening to others' creations and marvel at their talent in being able to create music in this way. I apologize for the delay in responding to your music posts ... I finally tossed in the towel on IE and tried Netscape, but even that one was causing some additional headaches. After talking with my son over the weekend, he told me to install Mozilla Firefox ... what a difference ... faster, easier to use ... mp3's are no longer any problem. I'm trashing IE for sure ... Even an 'old dog' like me can learn some new tricks.

Looking forward to listening to future compositions employing Sonar.

We are not really religious in my family. You could say we are like most danes: Members of the church, but not church-going and such.

Yes, I see it well, it is indeed a beautiful church. Such structures has always fascinated me, it's like the height of human devotion and architecture. Outstanding! I'm going to the states soon, Dana Point in so cal, to write a soundtrack for a film director at his place. I'm due to stay for about six months and visit a friend in Vermont, and a few in Texas as well. I shall be sure to visit your church if I pass through Madisonville, Kentucky =)

Thanks, I'm planning to remaster part one of Goodbye, I shall be sure to post it here if I do. People have only had good things to say about my Goodbye pieces actually =)

I have never been satisfied with the ending of Zeta, but I published it anyway. And well, chances are that I will make less electronica in the future, as I'm experiencing a good succes with a genre called turntableism - which is something quite different - and if you are unaware of what I talk about then you can see a video of turntableism here:

I'm glad you finally found a way out, and I agree with your son. FF has certain qualities above IE. It's less fragile and vulnurable to certain things.

Really enjoyed the Turntableism video - that's totally amazing to watch. I would have never figured out how this was being done having only listened to it. A new definite way of expressing music, and a new art of expression in music.

Traveling to Dana Point, huh? I lived in So Cal for 32 years until 1980 - believe me, the traffic was just as bad then as it is now, but the freeway was only 2 lanes each way then. Always enjoyed wandering around the coastline when living there.

Really enjoyed the Turntableism video - that's totally amazing to watch. I would have never figured out how this was being done having only listened to it. A new definite way of expressing music, and a new art of expression in music.

I might add here that I'm not as skilled as the guy in that video, and I don't use the same gear that he does. I use virtual (soft) turntables, like this:

...but it is indeed an art. Demands a lot of practice! Not to mention mouse skills in my case =)

Here's some turntablism I'm working on right now, but hold on now, the beat is quite heavy and so on. And the instrumentation is goofy quite deliberately - it has something to do with a sub-genre I'm aiming at, called Old Skool:

It may not be quite undone by the time you click it, but I can't work on it before my neighbours go to work, as I use monitor speakers. So I'll be stuck for the next couple of hours here.

Oh yea? He claims that Dana Point is the most beautiful place in So Cal, but let's see what happens, I should have mentioned for the sake of good order that it all depends on a report, and the evaluation of this report, but chances are definately in my favor. 90% or so. And if the evaluation fails, then it will just take a little bit longer, I guess.

When I sold my soul on eBay two months ago! Since then I just had this urge to make hip hop! ..Just kidding, I was into making hip hop as a kid, but then turned to philosophy, coding and graphics. What you just heard there, is more or less my DJ resurrection after 17 years!

You could probably beat the pants off skaven's music on bejeweled.
I wonder if Pop Cap Games will let you do bejeweled 3? They don't
have that one out yet. Maybe you could help out. Us bejeweled
fans are growing tired of waiting for a third game with pop cap.
I can't wait to see you visit my church. I will let you know a little
more profile. Like I said I'm 47 years old and quite a bit overweight.
I also have two teeth missing. Don't let the size of the church intimidate
you on how big the pipe organ is. I'm glad it isn't so big myself. It might
have 24 ranks to it but size didn't matter this time. The console only
has two keyboards and a bass pedalboard. But it still sounds like a big
one.:grin:
