Hi Mike,
Before you start a recording, play a loud part of the piece and watch the VU meters which are just to the right of the volume control. If they hit the red (right hand edge) while you play, turn the volume down until the peaks don't go into the red end. Then your recording won't clip.

Mike 's not a player so you gave the best way on doing a good rec with GO.
My '16' level came out of my (old) test with "arms'n elbows" :

you open everything on (full stop or the loudest voice of your instrument) and then you press as many keys on the keyboard as you can using both arms and elbows.
Of course you'll need a third hand to adjust the level knob... so you make this thing as many times as needed checkin' the level on GO's small level screen everytime you press the keys.
Its an old trick (many years of live performances) and allways works.

Jack 1.9.5

Hello everyone,

I think I might be doing something wrong with the installation of Jack. I download the windows binaries from the link provided at the Grandorgue site. When I click on the exe file include, a DOS terminal opens briefly and thats it. When I go the audio selection in Grandorgue I do not see an option for JackRouter. The other forums I have visted for the windows installation explain I need to grab certain files and tools, but the links don't offer windows versions, only ones for Linux. I have seen Qjackctl running on xp, however the site only offers the linux version of it. Do I need to compile this myself.

Hi Tetsuo,
The Windows installer for Jack 1.9.5 can be found in http://www.grame.fr/~letz/jack-1.9.5.tgz (when you download this file your download manager might rename it to jack-1.9.5.tar, if this is the case then rename the file ending to .tgz [and if you can't see the file type, then you need to enable this in your Windows settings - let us know if you need help]. Within the archive are installers for OS-X and Windows 32-bit). If you don't come right with that let me know and I'll upload the installer to my site too.
Once you have installed Jack for Windows you will need to have Jack running before you will see the JackRouter option in GrandOrgue. You should have a 'Jack PortAudio' shortcut within the Jack 1.9.5 start menu folder. Click on it to start Jack.

Hi Tetsuo !

I had the same problem at first with jack, but I did a reinstallation using the repair option and then everything went ok !
See my post here some days before.
If you have read Grahams tutorial about, you must follow it to the letter and all will be ok. Check again your system 32 or 64 bit?
Jack portaudio gave me new dimentions in mixing stand alone virtual instruments !

GrandOrgue installation problems under Ubuntu

Hi everybody.

I get problems while trying to install GrandOrgue under Ubuntu.
I followed the steps indicated in Graham Goode's very interesting site.
I set up the wxwidgets.com repository, then I imported the signature.
When I ask for reloading of the package, I get an error message indicating that http://apt.wxwidgets.org/dists/lucid-wx/deb.src/binary-i386/Package.gz is not found.
I can follow the links on the net by hand until lucid-wx, but afterwards it looks like being: main/sources/Sources (where there are informations about libwxgetk2 and libwxBase2.8).
Can anybody tell me where I do wrong?

@AlainT: You can find information and the most recent steps for installing the wx* for Ubuntu on http://wiki.wxpython.org/InstallingOnUbuntuOrDebian but it's of course possible to install from synaptic also but you need to add both the key.asc (you'll find it on http://apt.wxwidgets.org/key.asc and you add it on the Authentication tab) and the repository (on Other Software tab). The lines you need to add there are:

deb http://apt.wxwidgets.org/ lucid-wx main

and

deb-src http://apt.wxwidgets.org/ lucid-wx main

After that you can install the necessary packages and it should work.

Another hint when using GrandOrgue 0.2 for Linux is that I've discovered that unticking the "Lossless compression" and "Randomize Pipe Speaking) on the Audio, Settings will improve the performance a lot by reducing the annoying release and attack clicks.

The topic you are mentioning to install the libraries and repository signature gives the same information i already had. So I still get the same not found messages.... I've got to think ....!

Hi Alain,

I last set this up in Ubuntu with 9.04 and just copied those debs across when I upgraded... and as the version has not changed since jaunty it might be worth trying to install the jaunty or karmic versions? Just a thought.

I have GrandOrgue 0.2 working on 10.04, so it's possible to set up with lucid repositories, but I did that almoast half a year ago...

Just, to be clear. The problem is that you cannot get to wx lucid repositories registered, and update the package list so you can find the necessary -ansi packages?

I'll try to install them on another computer and see what I get, but in the mean time I recommend that you check what repositories -lines you have active in Synaptics Other Software tab and try to delete and reinsert them correctly. Of course the key must be registered also.

I've just sucessfully installed GrandOrgue 0.2 on Ubuntu 10.04 (again)!

The steps from a fresh new Ubuntu install were:

• Download key.asc (go to adress mentioned above with firefox and save page key.asc somewhere on your computer)

• Open Synaptic - go to Autentication tab and add key (the file you downloaded)

• In Synaptic to to Other Software tab add sources as in my earlier post (both deb and deb-src), best is to copy them in so no mistakes are made.

• Reload package list in Synaptic

• Search for libwxbase2.8-0-ansi and libwxgtk2.8-0-ansi and install them as well as qjackctl

• Download the grandorgue.deb from sourceforge right-click and install with GDebi
