All Hallows Mass: New English translation.

The Motet for mezzo-soprano, choir (ad libitum), violoncello, and organ from my All Hallows Mass – with text by Iben Krogsdal – has been translated into English by Edward Broadbridge. The sheet music is available for free for both the full version, as well as the reduced (soprano, cello, and organ) score! All you have to do is send me a message or write a comment on this blog post, and I will send you the sheet music (score and cello part) by email.

My All Hallows Mass (Allehelgen-messe) was written and published in 2011, and with the generous support of Den Folkekirkelige Udviklingsfond (The development fund of the Church of Denmark) I am able to offer the sheet music for both the original Danish version, and now also the English translation, free of charge.

Here is the complete English text:

Motet: All this life is but a moment

All this life is but a moment,
time from the eternal,
eyes are closed in birth, in death, we come and go unclad,
but around All Hallows Eve
the heavy rose of mourning
will gather us in gladness over all the life we had.

Love rejoices, love delights,
and love sheds tears of sorrow;
it has made us animated not on self to dwell.
Love is what is beating, what unfolds its wings in grieving
in giving all things meaning
as we whisper our farewell

Therefore we will give You thanks
for all that now is over,
for Your hidden care of those whose love we miss today.
Love shall radiate through all the darkness of All Hallows
longer than we dare believe
or see along the way.

Text: Iben Krogsdal, 2011
Trans: Edward Broadbridge, 2017
Music: Frederik Magle, 2011

    Hi Herr Magle,
I would like the cello part of your All Hallows Mass. Do you also have the vocal part?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ellen
