Laid back late night music

Second one's not too bad John but the first reminds me too much of the "hold" music on 0845 numbers with that rythm section rattling away.

The pianist for the piece was Matt Jodrell (who when i looked him up seems to play excellent trumpet as well)

Late at night, lights are low (again!), time to relax listening to Prez and Lady Day. It's midnight, the dog has been walked, the cat has been put out, the wife has retired upstairs to bed, I pour a cup of coffee, light a good cigar, sit back with my feet up, as I hear heavy rain pouring down outside, ah! all is well with the world......then the cat yells to get back in, my wife yells for a cup of coffee, the cat wants fed and the dog has to get a biscuit because the cat got fed, the time is now well past midnight, the lights are now on full beam (again!), I then rush out the door into the pouring rain because I suddenly remembered that I forgot to lock the car....I get back in soaked, dry off, change my shirt.... then I forget what the H*LL it was that I was going to do!!
Ah yes, Prez and Lady Day. :)
Amazing!!!!! Only 293 views for music of this quality!!! f it was this weeks heart throb, or last weeks pop star trying to sing the GAS book it would have a zillion hits!
Prez comes in late on this one, but it is story telling of the highest quality, and you just don't hear that often anymore....

Late night again, gee how time flies!! Where has the day gone? However, all is well tonight, the cat has been confined to it's room, the dog has been muzzled, the wife given coffee BEFORE retiring upstairs, the car door has been locked, so....hey!!...wait a minute!!!...can't find my favourite medium sized exquisite, unhealthy, just can't listen to good jazz or drink a cup of coffee without one...cigars!! S**T!!!
Anyway, the way Billie and Prez tell stories more than makes up for my missing matured in South America, blended in Ecuador cigars...(says so on the cigar packet)... or 'panatellas' really. Sounds like a South American dance!
Billie is sublime and Lester makes only a brief statement here on clarinet.
"living in a kind of daydream...de dum de do de......

The cluck trocks stwelve and I wayed astake night last. Long enough to hear that magnifique, that extraordinaire, ebullient, beyond category, knock your socks off,
curl up your toes, shatter your nerve ends, blister your ears, flatten the hair on your bald head, send a barrowload of tingles up and down your spine, big bad band of Gerald Wilson!!! It had the dog pattin' a huge paw on the coffee table, the cat hollering some feline scat and hip meows, while I just sat back and mumbled "go man!"
Not exactly baid lack natelight listening for sure, but it sent me to off to bed in nice and mellow dazed condition.:)

Yet another laid back night. It's nice and peaceful in this thread at nights, ain't nobody here but this chicken. When I want to be alone I just log in here then just babble a lot of nonsense, undisturbed.
Now, what idiocy can I relate this fine laid back night before I heard any late night music- last night. Well the dog got reprimanded for barking off key during a Pharoah Sanders track, the cat hit a high C above high C during a Maynard Ferguson solo and I belched a flatted fifth during a Thelonious Monk solo on Straight No Chaser, and we all came together on the closing riffs on Lionel Hampton's 'Flying Home'. (For an encore, prior to retiring, we all sang in close harmony that good old good one, Hey Bab A Re Bab). :)

I tip toed in here so as not to disturb anyone who isn't here! Last night after I had a night cap- that didn't fit- I decided to browse through some jazz books.
Tenorist Al Cohn, along with his buddy Zoot Sims, were known as drinking companions and were quite witty guys, once when touring Africa Al Cohn was asked if he would like an Elephant Beer, he answered, "No thanks. I drink to forget!"
Tenorist Zoot Sims when approached in the street by a down out, gave the guy some cash, and when he walked away, Zoot shouted out, "Don't go spending that on food!"

Hello Stu,
It has been a great pleasure corresponding with you, and I think that we have many things in common, but I think it is time for me to move on. This forum has not turned out quite as I expected in general terms, and I find that I don't have the time to devote to it (I am trying to run a small business and at my age, I think this is enough.)
All the very best to you, and if you ever get down to Cornwall, please contact me at [email protected] and we will have a beer or two together.
Very best wishes to you, your wife, your cat and your dog!
Eric.
