I am having an issue with data usage on my Samsung Galaxy J2, as far as I am aware I have not purchased any data yet I have received a message saying that I have been busy? upon checking my usage it shows that for the period May 17th - June 16th data used is 61.7MB and approx $10 has been deducted from my balance?
As yet I have only made calls to check my balance + a couple of unintended calls due to clumsy fingers,
I have activated Google maps which came with the phone, 90% of the time I only use the phone to make phone call how can I set it up to switch between ‘web use’ and ‘only making phone calls’ I have been advised to turn my mobile data off when using home BB How do I do that and would that be the reason for the usage? Is it the same as turning WiFi off on the phone which I have done or will that make it worse.
I am getting frightened to switch the phone on as it just seems to gobble up my balance.

I'm not as high tech as you, never owning hand-helds,
but I've got a computer story for you, and it's an old computer.

When I wasn't online, just using the computer for word processing and photos,
it kept acting like it was online, giving me security warnings, wanting to do updates,
that whole thing.
It also surprised me by giving the correct time, after being unplugged for half a year.
Uh-oh! Mobile! That means you're moving, not sitting in front of a computer.
That's almost as bad as travelling, or paying to roam.

Is your Google maps the static maps, able to see free of charge,
or are you looking down on a world that's moving?
Fifteen years ago, live Google, as used by detectives and suspicious spouses,
was $100 a month. And that was just the eye in the sky, not looking along roads.
I know people who have a little hand-held device poker, for tiny tiny push buttons.
The first one I found on the ground was at Niagara Falls.

I recommend taping it to a big stick, and flagellating yourself with it.
Right away, I'm sure you'll be leading a parade.
And if you respect the symphonic functionality of this domain,
you'll put up a video of it.

I have a Sony Experia 4 and had a few problems using it until I downloaded the full instruction book, and then I found it very easy to set up. My phone is set up so I can use the net when out and about, but generally don't. I do all my updates at home as well as transferring any documents/pictures. That way I do not pay for any data as its linked to my internet connection. The phone is actually very easy to set up and use, even for an old fart like me. For £8.50 per month ~I get a free phone,400 minutes of talk time, 5000 texts and half a gig of date, which I never go over. This is via Tesco the shopping store. There is a very good sat nav you can download which runs off a satellite so there are no date fees.

You get better rates than we do teddy, but I have it sorted, I took it back to the retailer and he said my latest attempt was spot on, where I got confused was when getting to "Data" I could not get the on/off window when I toggled it simply changed intensity from dark grey to pale grey ?? that means on/off in samsung talk. I even took a selfie but will not post as ............

@John. Have you tried zooomimg down to N Vietnam no streets at all just fields and hills.

Uh, uh, oh no, you really got me here JHC.
When I first looked at Google maps I wanted to look around the peninsula,
where I go for bike hikes.
I found out the zoom works 100% along the border with the States,
seeing people on the ground, but not as much anywhere else.

When I first got to try a computer, I was hot on live cameras,
looking around the world, seeing the sun come up over the Great Pyramid.
But did I ever think of looking around the world with Google maps?
Never!
Wow!
I can understand what you're saying about North Vietnam.
I saw a couple of movies made in Korea, lots of ruined cities.
It could look like a jungle or garden, until you saw the mosaic floor.

You got me thinking.
I should do a big JHC with black rocks on the white zebra mussel dunes,
near Fort Erie, across from Buffalo, and ask you to look for it.
The first lighthouse up Lake Erie, at Point Abino, would be a good landmark.
And don't worry, I'll put a big Bflat around you.

Well, I am amazed at the versatility of the smart phone.
Having a Facebook account "which I seldom use" I installed the FB app onto phone and then added Facebook Messenger I can now text and make phone calls all over the place for free, it just uses my BB data allowance which I have a ton of, I suppose you all knew this being such smart savvy jokers but it was news to me :grin:

I have been texting my sister in law in the UK for a week and it works fine you are not restricted to 60 characters as you are with normal texts also had a 5 min chat with her on the phone this morning absolutely free so it don't get much better than that, the phone was a bit delayed at times but that happens with normal phone calls to the UK and a bit of crackling which could be because the TV was between router and my mobile but I will sort that out.

oh, oh no, now we're falling into the horrors of device loading and transporting,
meaning that sooner or later, you forget it or lose it.

Catching a light rain walking around a bay, missing out on the downpour ahead of me,
I sat on the side of the asphalt at the parking by the beach,
and was pushing my wet, sandy feet into the sand to hit dry stuff, so I could put on socks and shoes.
I pushed up a black square, seeing it as a device, being in the dark, and brought it back.

It's called "Ballistic", and Larry, my Flea Market friend next door, cleaned it up and fired it up,
contacting a relative. He showed me that I could send myself some money from his account.
When he came to pick it up, it was the father with his transport and float company,
saying it was a business phone he paid over $450 for, with all his business activity inside it.

He insisted on giving me a twenty dollar bill.
I said that's too much, but he said he wanted to teach his son a lesson.
I thanked him for sharing a family moment with me.

John Watt, up $60 for device finds, the device world 0, as payments from me.

Mind you, I'm not out in the country like you with family out there.

Wow! You got character limits, even only 60, for email?
I can type forever, if I tried, and can easily send thirty photos.
That's my easyhosting.ca domain, over $11 a month.
I can see you being [email protected]
