I suppose that even '20 reading' is small beer when you consider that there are thousands of members and hundreds of members on the bigger internet forums.
There seem only to be between two and ten active members on MIMF - sadly.

And mostly towards the lower number. Still, this will make a fascinating archive for The Next Generation.

This is an interesting read - an article on How to Revive a 'Dead' Online Community:

    http://www.managingcommunities.com/2...ead-community/

I agree with a lot of what it says - but if nobody tries or has the will to try, then nothing will come of nothing.

Another interesting article on how to revive internet forums.

As the writer points out, activity is so important, but not just any old activity - people want to sense that there are discussions going on and places where they can join in.

That's why I've tried to start threads on specific topics which interest me and which I hope might interest other people.

Also it's why I try to keep posting - where I can, relevantly & concisely - on threads about music started by other people.

Because other people are the key to the health of this forum.

MIMF is not about me or about any other single poster.

MIMF is about community, and it's also about music.

One does wonder what was meant by this.

    It's 2019 now - and still moribund.

I'm not sure I entirely agree, since Talk Classical is still fairly healthy. I use Facebook quite a bit, but it doesn't stop me posting on Music Forums.

I too would like to know where everyone went that was here 4 or 5 years ago ... in fact, I have tried to contact those people without any success.
Interesting, to learn something of the history of the site.

maybe four years ago, a lot of members lost a number of replies. I lost over 1,200. But that's okay.

OH that is unfortunate. How long had the forum been going before the changes were made?

There's certainly a bit more life about MIMF these days - unfortunately, a long way short of making it a going concern again.

Goodness knows what impression some of the wilder posts on MIMF make on music-lovers wanting to join a forum where they can make friends with sensible people, share real-life experiences, and follow up genuine information...
