    In Honor Of Krummhorn...

    Dear Master Krummhorn,

This vid is in your honor - I found this vid of a piece I sang 20 years ago - It is simply stunning when sung by a good choir:

Be well in all that you do,

*Socrates: "My opinion is: Truth is absolute, not opinion, and that you are in absolute error. Since this is my opinion, then according to your philosophy you must grant that it is true."

I was also looking for *Friede Auf Erde* by Schoenberg but no luck - a really great choral piece.

    Dear Corno Dolce,

I am humbled deeply by the honor - A beautiful piece that gives one a new appreciation for the works of Gustav Mahler, especially since his birthdate was a couple days ago (July 7, 1860).

The lead soprano in this work - my goodness, reaching the high E effortlessly and with good tone ... a very accomplished singer. The very close harmonies and the 9th's before the chords resolve in this music is absolutely stunning.

I wonder if the St. Olaf Choir has sung this piece ... I'll have to research that out.

    Hi Master Krummhorn,

If my memory serves me the choral arrangement is by Clytus Gottwald.

    Cheers,

Indeed; lovely. Such fantastic harmonies. Mahler's music goes all over the place.
