Here is a beautiful very special and very loved church from Copenhagen built in the Gothic style/architecture. Please notice that anyone can walk the steps on the outside of the tower of the church to the top. Take care of the pidgeons though. And do not watch Alfred Hitchkock´s old movie "The Birds" before you try it out.
It was built in 1682-96, and the tower rebuilt in 1749-52:
Vor Frelsers Kirke (Københavns Kommune)
Vor Frelsers Kirke - translated to the english language: The Church of our Saviour

Sorry I did not catch the 20th Century thing, but then I am sure you´ll forgive me.
So to make up for my mistake, l´ll give you my personal church close to where I live, built in the beginning of the 1977, the name is: Nr. Uttrup Kirke, zip code 9400 Nørresundby - Chicago is not my town, but Nørresundby:

The link on top is Nr. Uttrup Kirke, so just press on your left side of the site Nr. Utttrup Kirke, and you will see pictures from the inside in modern building style and picture below: Hvorup Kirke, close by my living quarters as well, a more traditional Danish church. If you stay for a spell on the site, you can see different motives from the inside of the church. Sir Frederik Magle, our host here at the MIMF both knows the church and the architects, who designed it - the Exner family, it has a pipe organ as well.
