Warm Greetings to All !
Ok Graham I understand. You do a wonderfull work out there, spending a lotta precius time. Nevertheless I'll be waiting for these things to hapen.
Yesterday I spent about 10 hours testing:crazy: the stuff you proposed for, so this is
the report of my test:
Equipment :
a. Laptop PC Acer 5738ZG/windows7/Intel T4400fast dual core2,2Ghz/4GB mem/2,3GBHypermem/Asio$all v2
b. Yamaha EL900 dig organ(internal merging of 3midi channels for upper/lower/pedal brd +2 more for 2 more manuals) with RomioII USB/Midi interface(works perfect)
c. Yamaha MOTIF ES-6 synthesizer/sampler(direct Usb connection)
d. Korg SG-1D sampling grand piano(as mother also with RomioII)
e. KRK systems Rockit 6GL special edition active monitors
f. Sennheiser headphones E H2270.
Music pieces I played on :
Bux159, BWV565, 561, Bux219,217,220, BWV645,570, adagioBWV564,596(I love this concerto),Pachelbel's Toccatas in Em,Gm,Gm, Ciacona in Fm, Alein zu dir Her Jesu Christ, Praeludium in Am, Frescobaldi's Capriccio Pastorale and of course(as allways) my own improvisations:smirk:
TEST no1. New GrandOrgue(v.2).
Works exelent ! Better than v.1. I Throw to it everything I've got, no problems at all. Sample sets I used : Jeux d' orgues2 older relese, Happy Birthday Organ(Prospectum), Orgue de Salon(Sonimusicae), New Jeux d'Orgues(two versions), St.Agustine's (new) two versions, Sygsoft-Bezemer Harpsichord, Blanchet1720,Petit Italien,Italian Spinet,Taskin egal(2maual) clavecins.
In a big full coupler blast(from Stiehr-Mockers new version) the output went full red (defaul setting of 50%) with distortion, so I had to reduce it to 18% !
I liked the new look, it's more informative, but I missed the little red dot for the rec option(old habbits).
Inside the voice(polyphony) panel I saw the number 2048(!) is it possible?
Then I performed the arms 'n elbows test with all the stops on(St.Augustine)
. No problem. I know I've got very good ears, so I heard Full 49 keys polyphony, each key playing at least 10 voices. So is GrandOrgue tells the truth? I did that test months ago with St.Augustine's on Hauptwerk free edition and I only could play a four voice chord!
So Thanks for v.2 It's now my favorite organ player(with Jack!-see below).
Test 2. St.Augistines sample set.
Better than Hauptwerks edition.I say that cause this organ has not got half stops(2 2/3, 1 3/5 and so) and one have to use the closed horn to come to similar results. This stop on this new version blends better with the final mix, cosidering that's also missing a mixture stop.
I'v got problem with the tremullant. A nice addition but it runs too fast more like a Farfisa vibrato than a real tremolo.so it can't be used with the beautiful Orchestral Oboe in Swell.O.k. you can't have it all.
Test 3.New Jeux d'Orgues
EXELLENT! Far beyond away...
I liked so much the Hauptwerk III version with the real console photo and the Gothic letters on stops.
Test 4. Adding reverb to GrandOrgue (Jack...!)
I followed Grahams istructions to the spot with the exeption of Freeverb3(I just can't make it appear) and instead I used the Reverberate LE(very good).
During the decompression(Jack) process there was a warning from Winrar that Panda(?) is missing or can not be found, but anyway it was decompressed o.k. Jack istalled itself fast and full. There was a problem thow when I tried to find portaudio and control. I found only the .dll ones and nothing worked with Jack.
I was familliar with Hermann's Vsthost, so I had allready a stand alone reverb(reverberateLE) in my desktop and the short cut from GrandOrgue's istallation.
After an hour or so trying to find a solution with Jack(I just couldn't get the connection kit window on my desktop) I performed a reistallation of Jack(using .exe) and then came the responce from the wizard : "do you want a repear?" Oh! yes I said and off we go all things that Graham said happened.Exactly. Now we can all have the delight of convolution reverb on our virtual pipe organs. I played a Frescobaldi harpsichord toccata inside Milano's Scala!!(Open impulse responce library)
One last thing. Jack worked with all my other stand alone instruments(Safwan Matni's General grand piano, Hammond c-3, Mellotron 400, miniMoog,Arp26oo an so on) exept my two Midigers(150/216) cause they don't use Asio and of course Hauptwek
. It only works with rerouting its output(x64) to REAPER. I 've got the Reaper I'll give it a deep test and I'll post you here the resaults.
Thank you all for reading this, and thank you again Graham
Enjoy GrandOrgueV.2!
