My favourite part of flying is the take-off. What a rush! And I love a window seat.

My Dad said that the hardest part of flying was the landing.

It was the Russians I believe who developed an aeroplane that flew just above the surface of land or water. It was a normal aircraft not a hovercraft and used ground effect to improve the power to drag ratio. I believe the optimum height was half the wingspan above the surface. I am not sure whether this would make me feel safer (not so far to fall) or more exposed ( nearer to things you could hit). Does anyone know if this technology is still being developed?
