How's Your Weather?

We're currently under a tornado watch. O.O

The thunder is loud, the sky looks menacing...

Uh oh.

Edit: The tornado watch has been lifted; phew.

Lots of rain, thunder and lightning though.

Hi rojo. Boy, did that stuff come down! There have been reports of perhaps two tornados just north of Montreal - some physical damage, but no one hurt.

We seem to have been under a series of weather systems that have kept us far wetter than normal - and somewhat cooler than normal. Mind you, I don't care for 80 plus temps with high humidity but my tomato plants need a bit of that. (grin).

I made it to church just in time this evening before a thunderstorm hit.
It was lightening and thundering but not nothing until I got inside and
it hit with a boom. Whew! It cooled down to 70 degrees and it's been
a hot 90+ today with high humidity to go with it. And as usual they
had the air conditioner turned way up this morning and I was glad to
get back into the hot 90's. I was froze. I don't know why they have
to have the sanctuary so cold. People were grabbing for their sweaters
before it was over.

Hi Buch,

Indeed! I don't like when it gets hot & humid either. The weather of late is fine with me, especially when compared to winter.

Well, since last winter there's finally a video worth sharing with you.
This should cool some of you off some. I didn't know at the time what
danger I was in but I kept praying and rode the winter storm out.
The man upstairs was keeping an eye on me last January and Febuary.
I was spared some of the suffering some folks did here. Here's the
video.YouTube - Kentucky Iced Chicken
Please everybody watch! What looks like snow is really an inch of ice
on everything. Everything was paralyzed for a week or for some a
whole month.

Certainly something one does not expect in your neck of the woods. Here in the Montreal area I have memories of two ice storms. One in 1961, the last big one in 1998. (Check out on Google). In the last one we had to give up and move to a friend after the ninth day. But we got partial power back on day 11 - enough to heat the house but nothing else. We had fullpower by day 15 or 16. Some places in the townships were without power for over a month. Serious business for the farms!

By day five all I kept thinking was how people survived the seige of Lenengrad in WW2.

I made sure my present house can be heated without relying on the power grid. Thakfull I have not had to put that to the test.

To tell you what I think about it is this question. Do you remember
hurricane Ike? After it left Texas the hurricane came up north to
Kentucky and as far north I think Michigan or New York. Wind that
strong can weaken a telephone pole enough for more problems later
if not checked. Months later, the big ice storm hit and presto!
All electricity went out a little at a time. Because some of those
weak left over telephone poles snapped like pencils. Transformers
too exploded under the ice after Ike months later as well. The first
thing to go was the cable, telephones, even cell phone satellite towers,
and later the juice. From I think as far south as Tennessee to Kentucky
to as far west as Oklahoma and as far east as Virginia was buried in two
inches of ice. That meant a week without any communication to the
outside, limited supply of commodities like basic food needs, cloths,
and bottled water to drink. Even though all of the electricity has been
restored, we still have problems with overloading the system with our
air conditioners, computers like the desk model ones, and the lights
will blink like they will go off any minute. I tried staying at a shelter
just one night and I was ready to go home! It was too cold and
noisy for me there and I get nervous in crowds. So I stayed home
and kept warm with the gas cooking stove with the vent to the dryer
open. That worked. The Lord spared me that week. It took only a
week to melt off and another week to get things back on. The lucky
devil getting electricity was the hospital and milk company.

The weather hasn't been good today. We had a serious storm just a couple hours ago. Some of the main roads in the city are blocked because of the broken trees, two people were killed and some were injured. I was driving a car when it started. Windscreen wipers had a rough time dealing with all the water. We haven't had such a heavy rain here for a while. Thankfully, I managed to return home safely. It's almost 1 AM now and it's still raining.

We had 33*C (91*F) during the day, now it went down to 20*C but it still feels hot.
There were some pretty nice lightnings up in the sky during the storm. I wish I had a tripod for my camera...

Well,we finally got some heat. (OK, hot for us northerners - grin). It actually went above 30C today. It's down to 23 now outside but as sticky as can be. Not great sleeping weather. no AC out here in my backyard retreat but if I leave the door open the mosquitos have a great meal...

ATB!:)

We have plenty of rain here Judy, and wind, my garden is suffering. We occasionally see the sun, or so the rumour says. Global warming, or any other warming seems to have been disabled.

We have too much here ... currently 98°F and supposed to get cloudy on Friday and only reach 99°F. I'll try to send some sunshine your way  God knows we have enough to spare ... :banghead:
