So what does this mean, exactly? What's a Senior Regulator? Sounds like scuba gear, or...hum...a high stop on the pipes? What powers do you get? Hey--how old is that cake?

Well, a "regulator" is what normal forums calls a "moderator" (with power to "moderate"; move and delete posts, give infractions, etc.). Normally regulators are assigned to one or more specific forums, but a "Senior Regulator" can regulate all forums on the entire site.

Now, you may ask why it's called regulator and not moderator. Well, since we have been using navy ranks for the title system for many years it simply seemed fittingly to use the title "regulator" as well. A regulator is the navy pendent to the military police :D (But please don't take the "militaristic" titles the wrong way, we are a quite peaceful site - and the titles are all in good fun ;))

:tiphat::trp: Thank you all for the congrats :tiphat::trp:

I would be remiss in not thanking our 5 Star Admiral, Frederik Magle, for creating this wonderful music community for all of us to enjoy where all of us can share thoughts, debate touchy subjects, laugh and, yes, even cry, sometimes.

I am delighted to be working with Robin, and all the Regulator staff, in this new extended capacity. Though many of us have never met face to face, I feel like MIMF is my extended family - It's the people here that make MIMF the special place it is.

Mmmmmm, the cake ... finally, a Sr. Regulator who provides cake ... thanks Rojo!! ;)

Susangio,
In addition to what Admiral Magle has mentioned, we are, first and foremost, regular forum members who like to participate in the various discussions, too. :)

We are also here to help the members enjoy their experience by keeping the windows washed and the occassional crumbs swept up and put into the trashcan ... :smirk:

Hey--how old is that cake? Why, does it not look fresh? It`s a chocolate mousse cake, not a moldy one.

Ah! thank you Frederik and Krummhorn for the explanation on what a senior regulator is. Sounds good and makes sense. If Rojo would spoon us all some bowls of mousse cake....:p thank you very much, ha ha!

It sort of reminds me of sacher torte when I lived in Germany!

Help yourselves to cake, everyone! Now that I`m Sr. Regulator, I`m above such menial tasks such as serving cake. :p :D Besides, I already did my part by providing it. It`s hard to find decent cake...

Jan- You lived in Germany? That must have been fantastic. Whereabouts? Did you hear any good classical music there, in concerts etc.?

I happily report - Miss Rojo - that, despite it's advanced age, the cake is still delicious!!

Just goes to illustrate how things can improve with age ...
Thank goodness someone had the good sense to freeze the leftovers since July a year ago.

Indeed - I think it was about 3 years old, actually.

There are three (3) Senior Regulators: (oversee all forums)
Corno, (Thomas) in Denmark
Rojo, (Robin) in Montreal
Krummhorn, (Lars) in ArizonaBetween the above and Frederik Magle (Site Owner/Administrator) we are able to take care of all the daily operations of this forum community in a timely matter.

There are two (2) Regulators: (assigned to specific forum areas)
Frederik Sjolund in Sweden
Thomas Dressler, in PhiladelphiaA normal Regulator can issue infractions and move, edit, delete threads posts within their assigned area(s), but cannot ban.

Frederik Magle, of course, is the Administrator/Site Owner, and as such also oversees everything the staff does.
