Teddy Wilson was someone I listened to a lot when I was taking records out of the library,
when I was still in high school.
He backed a lot of recording artists, and if I remember, was Billie Holliday's favorite pianist.
Lester Young on sax and Jim Hall on electric guitar too.
I was given a Jann Arden CD, liking her songs on the radio, willing to give her CD a chance.
Now I'm putting it on every day.
I'm seeing her as a more western Canada kind of Sade, jazzy and mellow, with tasty musicians,
only I'm hearing her lyrics as being more uh, entertaining, and she's a real vid-wit.
Mike. That C JAM Blues is a cracker! I do have that track somewhere, tried to find it last night but it seems to be temporarily lost in the dark swinging recesses of my collection! I am a sucker for a good jam session. I think there are two tenors on that track one being ex Lionel Hampton tenorist Morris Lane.
Put me in a jamming mood.
Lionel Hampton-Just Jazz All Stars- Charlie Shavers; Slam Stewart; Willie Smith; Milt Buckner; A/O. (the classic Stardust)
One encouraging note and Hamp never fails to turn up the heat.
Lionel Hampton with Chick Corea -Live In Cannes 1977.
The jam to end all jams-Jatp First Concert 1944- with Nat Cole;Les Paul ; Illinois Jacquet;Jack Mc Vea etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=TpA-4nbXoi4
