How's Your Weather?

44f but does not feel any warmer. We are not geared up for cold weather here which makes it seem worse. Hoping for an early spring.

Right now it's sunny and in the mid 50's! I don't know whether to trust that this will last very long, though.
One can only keep hoping and  I guess.

The weather was beautiful yesterday with sunshine and 70
degrees. I took a nice walk in it to get some fresh air.
Today it's been cloudy at 61. We need some rain to
wash winter off everything and make it come back to
life.

Wondering what a "false dawn" is teddy ... a dawn that didn't happen?

Forecast is 73°f/23°c with sunshine. Now, looking out the window there are clouds. Rain coming Sat and Sun ... Yea!! Currently 47°f/8.4°c.

I believe the expression was first coined during a war, although which war and how long ago I am not sure. During the night it appeared to be getting lighter, as if dawn was breaking. but it was actually caused by a large fire raging. Now often used when it appears something is happening but is not, or when expectations are raised, prior to a disappointment.

I am sure there will be comments on this

No, there won't be. Wait, that's a comment...

We had some snow today but it melted qucikly. Currently it's -1°C/30°F. Felt quite cold when I was out getting some pizza earlier today.

Sunny and in the fifties but still a slight chill in the air. This is the kind of weather to which Teddy alluded, causing people to not dress heavily enough because they sense the first harbingers of spring and end up getting colds--or worse.

We had a bit of a thaw the last two days, just enough to get our hopes up. But this morning its back to 'normal' winter temperatures (about -8C or less). Typically this is a snow month. The extreme cold is probably past, but I don't expect any real change for another month. Every once in a while March can throw some nasty storms at us - so my snow shovel has not been put away yet... ATB! :(

Thanks for the explanation, teddy

I learn something new from this forum every day. :tiphat:

38°f/3.3°c and cloudy at the moment. Light rain most of the night, but supposed to clear off later.

It's President's Day - a federal holiday for most, except those (me) in retail.

You got that right, teddy ... although it's only a thrift (charity) store, but I'm the assistant manager and do the financial stuff there too.

The temp rose 5° since my last post ... it's now 43°f/6.2°c. That's what the temperature does here in the high desert. Goes up just as fast as the petrol prices

It's quite cold @ -7°F/19°F. We got snow as well but not enough to make a snowman

P.S. Lars, thumbs up for using both °C and °F.
